Solo Studios is an annual, weekend event held in the Riebeek Valley in August. The many artists in the towns of Riebeek Kasteel and Riebeek West open their homes and art studios to visitors who get to see where and how they work and chat to the artists themselves. Local restaurants, bars and accommodation venues were also involved in a program of music and culinary events spanning the whole weekend.
I designed the logo in 2016 as well as a 15cm-square booklet or catalogue featuring all the artists and including a map showing walking routes between the studios. I also created an A5 info guide and lanyards, posters, social media posts and invitations, newspaper and magazine ads and tickets.
I worked on the events from 2016 to 2019 and although each year was quite different we kept the formats of the square booklet and A5 info guide the same. Of course there were new artists and artworks to feature each year and we changed the colours of the covers to a different dark shade each year. There are also the usual minor or major changes to the map and these changes happen sometimes up to the final week before we send artwork to print. It can be a challenge, but always fun and exciting!
